We all know Herman Toothrot, the part-time philosopher and convinced hermit. He seems to have had a quite adventurous life. But it is nothing compared to the adventures of his brother Sherman Toothrot. Since Sherman gave up his pirate life he lives on Pinty Island, a calm place in the Carribbean.
But one day he finds a bottle with a message of his brother Herman on the beach. Herman needs his help, and so Sherman decides to find and rescue him. His adventures take him far into the darkest corners of the caribbean. He has to prove his guts, struggle treachery, testify his honor and find his way through the endless mysteries of the caribbean.
This is roughly the content of The Sherman Toothrot Project, a promising fangame, which is still in production. You can already download some screenshots and, in my opinion, very excellent game music.
Up to now their homepage is completely in german, but I was told that an english version is in progress.
I interviewed one of the crew members to get further information. He told me that the estimated release date of the project, which started in April 2003, is 2005/2006. That is still some time to go, but it looks like the project is going to be a high-quality fangame and as I was told it will surely be finished. It's mainly an open-source production with 11 steady crew members and about 10 freelancer. Even though it is a german production it will probably also be available in english.
